BURLINGAME Jim Rowe announced Thursday that he will not pursue his candidacy for the Burlingame Elementary School District.
A banker, he said an increase in work-related responsibilities and commitments have made it impractical for him to run and devote time to his campaign. "I have been unable to attend some important meetings and forums where candidates have been able to express their views," Rowe said. "This is the only fair course of action for the other candidates, my supporters and the process." Rowe's departure now leaves five candidates vying for three four-year terms. The remaining candidates are: incumbent trustee Marc Friedman, attorney Mark Intrieri, attorney Dennis Zell, PTA member Liz Gindraux and Gregory Land, an assistant principal for Roy Cloud Elementary School in Redwood City. Friedman is the only incumbent running for re-election. Board trustees Linda Lees Dwyer and Alison Van Dyke are not running for re-election. Rowe said despite his schedule, he will "remain very engaged in the education process" and hopes to revisit his candidacy in future elections.

I like two of the candidates, don't like one of them but I have never met the others so why are there no debates publicised in the newspapers, like other cities, so we can learn about the candidates and why they are running?
