Mr. Horgan is parsing the word desolate from a candidate's brochure about Howard Avenue. I agree with him that some of the buildings on Howard Avenue have a "certain quiet charm" but when was the last time you walked down Howard?

Love the coffee shop, some of the buildings, the children's eye store, Coconut Bay, Sam's, Brothers, the Masonic Hall (they have spoiled the original) but, lets face it, this is a street that needs help. A new brighter cleaner Safeway is not the whole answer but what can be done …

  1. Don’t forget Tea plus Noodle. It is a relatively new restaurant but the food is good, fresh and reasonably priced.

The non-development of Safeway has a huge impact on the rest of the street. As someone else stated why invest on Howard when the outcome of the anchor of the street is in limbo.

I miss the english Tea house (forgot the name), that was a fun place to take the kids and have them act like adults. What is the childrens’ eye store? Yes, we definitely need an anchor or two. The street is underutilized as far as retail goes. The big restaurant at the end only draws during certain hours, not sure when Curves draws people. Could someone please explain to me what Curves is? Looks like another nail shop moved in, but I’m not exactly sure. And, of course, another empty where the gallery was. That was unfortunately predictable. There isn’t enough foot traffic on that street at all. Chapin has turned into an area with mainly just office space, particularly real estate offices. Was that good planning? (Was it planning at all?) I’m not sure just offices can lure pedestrians. I don’t know where any retail could go, and don’t expect to see it at the old Garden Center either, which is a pity.

Curves is a womens workout place based on healthy circuit training. It’s good. Pretty remodel.

Anyone seen the new colorful Farmers Market banners on Park? They look great.

What is circuit training? Yes, lovely remodel.

My understanding is that there are stations set up for different areas of your body, and you follow the stations in a specific order. I believe you can get through the whole routine in 30 minutes. I don’t belong. I have this info from my mom, who does!

My mom says you can meet wonderful friends that show up on the same circuit, and that there is a wonderful rewards program for reaching goals. I remember she was very excited to receive a recognition t-shirt.

    It’s a chain.
