Farmers Market Tasting Approved

Let's complement our dear governor for a change!  The SacBee is reporting that

Gov. Jerry Brown announced Tuesday he has signed an urgency measure allowing winegrowers who bottle their own wine to conduct instructional tastings at California’s numerous farmers markets. Assembly Bill 2488, by Assemblyman Marc Levine, D-San Rafael, was approved by both houses of the Legislature without dissent.

The bill expands a provision of state law allowing the sale of estate-grown wine at farmers markets. Wine industry groups said the inability to offer samples hurt sales in an industry in which customers are accustomed to a taste.

I'm not sure what is so urgent about it, but it should liven things up at our markets.  The tasting spot needs to be roped off from the rest of the market and patrons are limited to three ounces per day which is just a bit more than half a glass.  We've got Fresh Market Thursday and Sunday to choose from.

    I have been to “Farmer Markets” all over the Peninsula.
    I have come to the decision that other than the experience of “getting out,” there is no reason to go because of all the good/excellent produce at Lunarddi’s. The butcher shop is great too.
    The phrase “buy local” does not apply to these events at all.
    WE/I paid $7.50 for 4 apples last week.
    I was so shocked/embarrassed bought them.
    On the way home we stopped at Lunardi’s-Burlingame and bought 7.50 of Fuji Apples-9.
    We mixed them up and could not tell the difference.
    Buyer be ware.

    Bruce Dickinson will be bottling my new Pinot Noir this year, available mid 2015. If the wine tasting gets approved, you’ll be tasting the very best from Cowbell Vineyards, free of charge, for all you folks, of course.

    Yea. Lets carry high fashions, groceries, eyeglasses, hardware supplies, etc and close all the stores and convert all enterprise to a Farmers Market.
    That is OK..because it will FEEL-GOOD
    Sarcastic but I don’t like Farmers Markets not because they aren’t a nice little break in the day..but every item you buy from the Farmers Market is a tax on its citizens. It reduces tax revenue our local stores would have produced by selling the exact same fruits, vegetable, carmel corn, flowers, etc.
