Just as I was thinking about gas prices again, today's Daily Post has a blurb on the front page titled Gas Prices Soaring:

U.S. gasoline prices have jumped to the highest levels ever for the middle of February.  The national average hit $3.127 per gallon yesterday, about 50 cents above a year ago.

I buy gas all over the place–Bob's because I like the service and the idea of an independent station owner, the 76 on B'way because it's central, and the Shell out on Old Bayshore because of the car wash.  I notice all sorts of cabs and limos buying gas out there for, I assume, the same reason.  Where do y'all go and why?

    And looking for other recommendations:
Good auto mechanic that charges by the hour – not by looking up the price for the job on his computer. Every mechanic I’ve been to in Burlingame gets their prices by typing the make and model into their computer and the specific job and they total their prices that way. I’d rather pay for their time, not what the computer is telling them.

Gary Veilbaum at Pacific Auto Repair on Highland. Almost 100 years there… Local family.

I’ll drive by there and check him out for future reference. Thanks.

Ruppels Auto Fixation on East Lane. Ken is very fair and honest. For “special” european sports cars, Bob (aka “Jaguar Bob”) — the same ‘Bob’ who sells gas on Howard, can help you out.

Is Bob the guy that runs the gas part? There’s an Asian guy in the shop but I can’t remember his name. I would have remember’d if it was Bob. I’ve never seen anyone else working on cars except the Asian guy. Anyway, he is okay, never the most expensive, but still when he claims 2.5 hours for I suspect a simple job it’s hard to see where he came up with those numbers – I think he is also using the same standard numbers, not real time worked.
That mannequin they have out front tricks me for a split second every time!

No, the asian fellow does SMOG work and probably some other items. I believe he leases that spot from Bob, the owner of the property.
Bob’s garage is on the opposite side (closer to Myrtle) and he is usually buried in the cars inside, literally.
