Pet parade to showcase finest in 4-legged fashion

BURLINGAME Costume-clad pets and their owners are expected to flock on Sunday to Broadway for the annual Burlingame Pet Parade. The parade will begin at 11:30 a.m., and pets will march up Broadway to Capuchino Avenue. The street will be closed for the event from noon to 1:30 p.m.

Music will be provided by the Burlingame High School Band, and there will be booths available from Scout troops and community groups. There also will be a barbecue lunch.

There will be prizes for most interesting pet, most interesting pet costume, most original float or wagon, best-dressed pet, best-dressed pet and owner, best-dressed group and best banner, as well as a grand prize. People who want to compete should meet at 10:45 a.m. at the parking lot next to Pick of the Litter thrift shop at 1127 Chula Vista.

There is no fee to participate in the parade. Stuffed animals also are allowed. Dogs must be on a 6-foot leash, and aggressive animals or those in heat are not allowed.

One amendment to the article – Broadway will be closed from 9:00 to 3:00, according to the signs on the parking meters.

    Interesting to see our politicos attending the parade but the ones that made the difference and stepped up to the plate and volunteered were the following:

    Ann Keighran
    Russ Cohen
    Dan Andersen

    They did more than just show up with their fat or thin dogs – they volunteered. Thank you, Dan, Ann and Russ.

    And of course, a huuuuuge thank you to Mrs. Nagel, who without her energy and leadership, the 2nd Annual Pet Parade would NOT have happened.

  2. How much does Crescent Creative charge for the web site? Over $12,000.00 like the DBID website? The logo of the kid with parrot – did it cost $6,000.00 like the DBID logo?

    Nice website and nice parade. Something tells me it was a little more economical than anything that happened with DBID.

    Dear Fred, Crescent Creative was paid $120 billion dollars for the Pet Parade website and all the fantastic volunteers were paid one billion dollars each. We are all toodling off to Paris to enjoy the fruits of our volunteer labors. A bientot!
