Let's keep the school post rally going by highlighting today's SF Comicle Top 15 high school baseball rankings.  BHS made the #15 slot–the only team not ranked preseason!  There are not a lot of public schools on the list–Los Gatos being one that has a rich baseball history–as does B'game.  Keep it up, team.

BHS Baseball T15

Update May 18:  Things did not go well for the Panthers today against Mitty at Washington Park.  It was a beautiful day for baseball, until it wasn't.  I arrived mid-game when BHS was down 6-1 and it went downhill from there.  I think it was 12-1 at the end due to strong hitting by Mitty and some very sloppy defense by the home team.  That's the way the ball bounces.  Making the CCS D-I playoffs is quite an accomplishment, and my guess is that is what the coaches are telling the players here after the game.

I hope the boys handle the pressure OK. Once you make the top 15 you have to work hard to stay there, but it’s not as tough as getting a rejection letter from Yale. LOL

Panthers are home tonight at Washington Park at 7p vs Capuchino for a chance to clinch at least a share of the PAL Bay title. Panthers are up 1 game with 2 to go.
Night youth baseball at Washington is a true Burlingame gem…

The boys pulled it out. Click through for the dogpile photo:
Anyone arriving late to the Burlingame-Capuchino season finale baseball game Friday night in San Bruno missed the Mustangs’ offense as they jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead.
And if anyone left the game early, they missed Burlingame rally for three runs in the top of the seventh to pull out a 3-2 win.
The victory gives Burlingame its first Peninsula Athletic League Bay Division title since 2012.
“[It feels] really good,” said Burlingame manager Shawn Scott, who was in just his second season as manager the last time he led the Panthers to the Bay Division championship. “We lost it on the last day (of the season) a couple years — to Carlmont, lost it to Cap one year on the last game.

There is an update on today’s game which didn’t go the way the Panthers and their home town crowd had hoped it would go……

Tough loss for the Panthers, but overall a great season with a PAL Championship.
It could have been an even tougher week for the BHS Baseball program, but fortunately the Park and Rec Commission at the May 16th meeting, unanimously(5-0) vetoed the Staff Report proposal to remove the infield grass at Washington Park and make the infield an all dirt infield…too make room for more adult slow pitch softball. From what I hear, the baseball and girls softball communities spoke up and voiced their concerns load and clear.

    Stop the presses!
A commission vetoed a staff report?
I wish Park and Rec had oversight of the California Ave. project.

Today’s Comicle is showing that the Panther football team has also eked its way onto the Chronicle WCAL Top 25. At 5-1, they are ranked number 25!
