I'm just a slightly interested observer in the County controller race due to our former mayor's candidacy and strategic moves.  Some of those are described in the first post on the topic.  Today the SM Times has tracked down the initial campaign funding statements for Juan Raigoza and Joe Galligan

According to campaign disclosure statements filed for the period from Jan. 1 to March 17, former Burlingame mayor Joe Galligan loaned his campaign $50,000 and raised $450 for a total of $50,450. Assistant Controller Juan Raigoza poured $25,000 of his own money into his campaign and raised $7,201 for a total of $32,201.

Those numbers are interesting because we here in B'game know that Joe Galligan can raise more than $450 from donors, so one has to wonder what he's waiting for?  Given the news that the two incumbents for County Supe (Groom and Horsley) have raised big money against newcomer opponents, the controller race looks like the one to watch for political junkies this year.

Unless you want to inflict Joe on the entire County, please get out there and vote for Juan Raigoza! Not only is he NOT Joe, he is the best qualified and an ethical person who will serve the County well. I’ve met both, and Joe gave me the willies and Juan came across as intelligent and genuine.
