For several years now a small tree in front of Burlingame City Hall has been decorated in honor of Ruth Jacobs, the first woman planning commissioner who served our city for over 25 years and more if you include other activitities she engaged in after her departure from the commission. She made her mark on Burlingame and she left us too soon in my opinion. The first year shortly after her death, the tree was decorated in the cover of darkness. Today as it was last year it was decorated in broad daylight by a handful of folks including yours truly and my better half, and the Giornis. It will be lighted for all to enjoy on Friday, December 5th along with it's neighbor tree at the annual tree lighting ceremony that evening.
Here's to you Ruth.
