More Tree Lighting Pics

In addition to the BPD Mustang-pushing shown below this post, here are a couple of other fun photos from the night.  The first is the BIS choir being led by Mr. Simon who also led the band in a few holidays songs.

And Mayor Keighran reminded everyone about the upcoming Burlingame Ave Streetscape project which will have quite an impact on the street for some period of time but will end up being worth it.  After she reminded everyone to "shop Burlingame" she was joined by the other four councilmembers

Then Mr. and Mrs. Claus and the senior-most elf on staff took the stage for more singing and dancing!

    We had a great time as usual at the Tree Lighting.
    I have a large tree in front of my house that I would “Lite up too.”
    Does anyone know who did the work?
    Also..
    Happy Hanukkha to all our Jewish neighbors.

    I’m having a bit of a technical issue posting about the 2018 tree lighting so here are my thoughts until I can figure out the tech issues:
    Nothing brings out the crowd for the annual B’game holiday tree lighting and parade like nice weather earlier in that day.  Yesterday was lovely–bright and sunny and brisk and so was the crowd last evening.  It had to be several thousand people and while a few locals commented that they hadn’t seen many locals, I saw a bunch.  It was nice to see the small train in action given that we lost long time train operator Rudy Horak in the summer of last year.  As his obit notes
    Rudy celebrated his love of trains, parades, and carnivals by combining them into a one-man show to the delight of every child he met!
    And he was a Best of B’game in 2007.  It was also nice to see the BHS band march and there was music in two other spots as the night went on.  This event is good for the city’s image and good for its residents as a reminder of what is so nice about B’game!

    You are right, HR, and Joe, I thought of Rudy, too. Darn it! — sort of a pit in my stomach. Otherwise, a super event, and I DID see lots of familiar faces and smiles. It was a bit too cold, but very fitting for the evening:)
