The San Mateo County Times' Joshua Melvin has an article today on a lawsuit filed by a B'game couple against Jerry Deal and James Chu for a residential design dispute.

Simon and Tina Jang are suing Deal, who owns design firm J Deal Associates, as well as Chu Design & Engineering Inc. for allegedly overestimating the structural strength of the couple's home in the 1100 block of Cortez Avenue. It was only when the Jangs were midway through the remodeling project that they learned their home's existing structure and foundation weren't sufficient to support the addition.

The story itself raises a couple of questions.  First, how did the reporter find out and decide to write the story?  There are suits in town all the time that never make the news, but I guess working "Vice Mayor" into the headline was too good to pass up.  Once the Times starts this, they better be sure to follow it all the way to its conclusion.
