Since the question came up in comments, but is better placed as its own thread, here is KRN's question:

Does anyone know why (or how) the Burlingame Limo Service gets to park its vans and limos for free in city parking spaces next to the tennis courts next Washington Park? I walk by these vehicles every day with a big RED Expired symbol in the parking meter. I've watched the police and meter crews drive by without writing a ticket.

Check with the planning dep't because the limo office is upstairs on Cal Dr at B'game Ave. The limo company most likely has a conditional use permit with required parking. It may have paid the City "in lieu" fees to park in those spots since there is not a lot as part of the property.

"In lieu" fees aren't common, but do happen.  Parking will be a hot topic this week as the St. Catherine's lot swap is on the Council agenda.  Comment away.
