You can read up a bit on the passing of Ruth Jacobs here.  Her public memorial was today in front of City Hall where a tree was planted in her memory.  Her husband and one daughter spoke along with Vice Mayor Jerry Deal who served on the Planning Commission with Ruth for years.  About 50 people attended and signed the stakes holding up the young tree.  Here is the ceremonial shoveling of dirt to plant the tree which is expected to take the honored position as the City's Christmas tree in about 10 years.  She was quite a gardener herself winning a Blue ribbon in a local contest and would be pleased!

The City of Burlingame has REALLY showed it’s commitment to trees, and tree preservation, this week.
Ruth Jacob’s contribution to her legacy, as well as the Arbor Day celebration at Ray Park Tuesday where 5 trees were planted.
    Kudo’s to the Park Dept!

Many thanks for the mention and photo of Mom’s memorial tree planting. It was terrific to see so many of Mom’s friends there. Many thanks to the folks at Burlingame City Hall, especially the Parks Department, for their work in making this occasion so wonderful. We’re looking forward to seeing lights on that tree in 2021!

You always knew where Ruth stood on things. We could use more people like your mother around here.

I just found your nice message, dtn, posted here, thanks. Mom didn’t mince words, that’s for sure. She stood up for what she believed in and did it in a civilized way.
