   I believe all candidates are oppossed to HSR.
   This is some Federal Boondoggle being forced down the throat of people who will never use it.
   HSR is just about the most incomprehensible concept ever to be proposed.
   How this project has not recieved more media attension is just wrong.
   This project is worse than Sarah Palins “Bridge to No-Where.”

   I read daily about City Elders, City Managers, and all Penninsula Politcians talk about shared services to reduce the cost to us regarding: retirement benefits, pay, car, cell phone, expence accounts, office space, etc.
   How many levels of Goverment “Represenitives” do we need?
   These are the same people who keep grandstanding about how the Public Employee is responsible for the the Bankruptcy of the State of California.
   Lets ask Terry Nagel, as well as the others running for this obscure-possibly redunant political position why this elected position is nessesary.
   Lets be serious folks..
   How can reform ever happen if the people who are in a position to Govern are the same ones who want to feed off the Public Trough.
   Do we need:
   Supervisors
   Assemblymen
   School Super/Everything else Politically School related
   Fire/Police Chiefs
   State of California Congressmen
   Federal Congressmen
   State Senetors
   Where does it end and begin?
   I would say, at the City Level.
   Power to the People.

   Definitely Pine over Nagel. She has played along with high speed rail from the start with her transit oriented development and context sensitive solution nonsense. See where transit oriented development has gotten San Mateo–they are screwed.

   Nagel has not only “played along” with HSR from the start, but plays along with whatever she thinks is going to put her in the best light at that time. She is very wishy washy on all fronts and yes, I agree, condescending too.
   What about Holober? Anyone out there in cyberspace have a feel for him?

    As far as I know Terry Nagel is NOT opposed to high speed rail for California. She wants to be a party player and the Democrat party is very much in favor of HSRCA for exactly the same reasons I am against. Terry Nagel wants to be part of the Democrat machine so if you are concerned about HSR in Burlingame you should not vote for her.
    Can’t say I know anything about the rest of the candidates.

    One of our Voice bloggers is staying on top of the financing in this race. This letter appeared in today’s Daily Journal:
    Recently, Gina Papan has stated, “I am the only candidate in the top three who has not written a large personal check to my campaign.” Ms. Papan, however, has not told us the entire story. True, she did not contribute to her campaign during the most recent reporting period, ending Dec. 31, 2010.
    However, county records for the previous reporting period show a June 29, 2010 contribution from Virginia I. Papan (Gina), totaling $20,000. In my mind, this is a “large” amount and, more importantly, we have been misled by Ms. Papan. How can we afford to elect someone who is trying to mislead us?
    We deserve a leader, not a misleader. Now, that’s the rest of the story.

    Has no one noticed that if our Mayor wins her bid for the Bd of Supes there will be a very big hole on the Council that would compromise and cripple its ability to conduct the City’s business?
    I pointed out the alternatives of filling her seat at the Dec. 6, 2010 Council meeting which can be seen on Granicus– http://burlingameca.granicus.com/MediaPlayer.php?view_id=2&clip_id=94 Item 7, Public Comment, time 17:10.
    Since then no one has picked up the gauntlet to request that Council start preparing NOW for the eventuality that a seat might be vacated. What are you waiting for?
    And to the scallywag who might suggest that I am angling for appointment, I quote LBJ: “I will not seek, nor will I accept” a seat on Council…I like it just fine in the peanut gallery where I am not restricted by the Brown Act, nor forced to weigh my comments with political considerations.

    Will someone please tell Terry Nagel that it is not ok to plaster her signs on public utility poles, abandoned buildings and old gas stations? Hey Terry, why don’t you have Jim Natel and the city attorney give you a refresher course in sign ordinances.
    You would think the mayor of Burlingame would be familiar with the sign ordinances for the county and cities but she is so desperate to get her name on everything that these minor details get mowed down in her march to land a seat.
    Open letter to Nagel: please go around and collect your signs the day after the election. We are already sick of looking at them and it’s only March.

    Right on, Two Cents. I couldn’t agree more. Mark my words, those signs will not be removed after the election. With any luck some will blow down with the storm that is brewing for the weekend!
