The City of San Mateo is closed for biz this week. Is that a smart move? You could argue that it is a slow week for city business and thus a good time to recoup some salaries/vacation time. What do the bloggers think? Should B'game follow their lead?

Since Thanksgiving; we(City of Burlingame) have had wind, rain, Christmas Drivers, flooding/ sewer problems, tree accidents, and you know what?
Our City Workers did a good job.
I do not know if people who live in San Mateo expect or care, if problems of these sorts, get taken care of later than sooner; BUT THAT IS WHY I LIVE IN BURLINGAME.
What would have happened here in Burlingame if all the City Workers would have been gone? -
San Mateo had the same weather as we did. It looks like they survived. I haven’t heard anyone say they didn’t. And that is just a small part of the total savings even if some of the street maintenance guys had to come in anyway. How is that different than if they needed to work on the weekend?
