   Glad to see this has finally become a reality! I’d be interested to know how the City intends to publicize this new capability. There’s a blurb on the website, but wish it was highlighted in a bolder font (afraid it may get lost in the shuffle). I’m hoping the Mayor will reference webstreaming in her opening remarks for the next several Council meetings. I also hope the agenda and meeting minutes will also reference it repeatedly, as well as Burlingame e-newsletters. Finally, I know some of the Council members have their own websites/newsletters; perhaps they can mention it as well.

   it’s fantastic! very clear, and the technology let’s you get through the meeting at your own pace….the whole meeting, or just the parts you’re interested in. Very good. Thanks Lorne for your positive persistence!

   Thanks Jean — I’m hoping the City will soon be able to “attach” corresponding staff reports to the Agenda as PDF files, for additional background/record-keeping. You’ll see several other Granicus clients do this, including San Carlos — A good example of these PDF attachments is per Agenda item 6 (consent calendar) on this San Carlos/Granicus stream/archive:

   I was very impressed by the City Council meeting’s streaming video. It is what I was hoping it would be. I am often busy on the nights of the meetings and it takes up quite a bit of room on my DVR. This way I can look at the agenda and go right to the items that interest me. I can view it any time that is convenient to me. I had a little trouble seeing the section where the public is able to speak (it ended before the meeting adjourned). That might have just been a glitch. But all in all it is very valuable to be able to view it and search for subjects of past meetings. Thank you all!

   To spread the word about this new service/capability, and also hopefully maximize the City’s (taxpayers’) return on investment, here are some ideas I shared with Council during Public Comments on 11/3. Most of these resulted from discussions I had with City Clerks at other nearby cities that have been utilizing Granicus. I’m glad to see some of these have already been adopted:
   – For the next few months, announce this capability at the beginning of Council meetings, as part of opening remarks.
   – Include a recurrent footnote about the serviceon the bottom of the Council Meeting Agenda
   – Likewise, include a similar recurrent footnote on future City “e-newsletters”
   – Include notice/announcement on Burlingame water bills
   – Maintain/highlight the current announcement on city’s homepage (News and Press Release section) for the next few months.
   – Consider putting a video public service announcement from the City Mananger or City Clerk on the city’s homepage; I’ve noticed other cities using Granicus have done this to announce the service. Production costs should be neglible for “homemade” Windows Media File (simple webcam and microphone available at Radio Shack on Lorton!)
   -Some Council Members have their own websites and e-newsletters; perhaps they can spread the word via these, as well (in addition to Citizen Connect feature on the city’s website).

   Anyway, just trying to help maximize usage/return on investment. Glad to see it up and running!
