Irked by business (Letter in Daily News)
Dear Editor: We are writing in response to your [July 26] article about James Hannay, the owner of Rector Motor Car Co., joining the lawsuit attacking the Peninsula Humane Society project to build a new home for animals in Burlingame. Since we purchased our Audi in San Jose in 2003, we were taking it exclusively to Rector for service. However, once we read the article, we wrote Rector a letter informing them that we will no longer be taking our car there for service.
Even though we live in San Mateo, just one mile from Rector, we would prefer to drive down to the Carlsen Audi dealership in Palo Alto for service rather than support a business that opposes the work of the Peninsula Humane Society, a great organization that helps save the lives of so many animals in San Mateo County. It is disappointing that Mr. Hannay has been suckered into joining this frivolous lawsuit. We sincerely hope that Mr. Hannay will quickly realize the mistake he has made, and instead join the Burlingame City Council and the numerous other Burlingame businesses that support this wonderful Humane Society project. If not, we certainly encourage others who love animals and support homeless pets to reconsider doing business with Rector, our local "Autos Against Animals" company. Todd and Rachel, San Mateo
