Dedicated to Empowering and Informing the Burlingame Community

The colorful, inventive designs that architects created during the Burlingame charrette are now on display in the main Burlingame Public Library at 480 Primrose. They are the result of an all-day design workshop on September 30 at which 63 architects and other design professionals volunteered their time to transform hundreds of ideas into scenarios of what our downtown might look like in the future.

Take a look! They are quite imaginative! There's even a design by two young boys of the vision they have for a future downtown, complete with a giant candy store, go-cart area, rollercoaster and a doughnut shop with an underground passage to the police station.

The architects will be back soon to give a presentation to the public at a future Burlingame City Council meeting. Stay tuned: We'll post the time and place on the blog.

If you go to the library today (Sunday), be sure to stop by the Burlingame Library Foundation's book sale between 1 and 4 p.m. Admission is free, and all proceeds benefit Burlingame Library programs and materials.

Terry, looking forward to a follow up presentation. Just like the public comment section in council meetings where 3 minutes do not allow asking questions of the council and staff, I would love to see an event where we could ask questions about the designs and have it more like a conversation than a presentation.

    The designs are very exciting.

The AIA representatives at the CBB’s Charrettes for Dummies meeting showed us some wrap up brochures from other charrettes.

Terry, will we be able to get copies if they do one for Howard Avenue and environs?

Yes, the designs from the Howard Avenue charrette will be available for everyone to see.
