Election Journal (Daily Journal)

Donations are pouring in to back the $240 million bond measure, Measure M, for the San Mateo Union High School District. The money generated would hopefully address many of the updates schools were not able to get during the last five years of construction. The campaign generated $78,435 in donations. Among the donations was $25,000 from UBS Securities based in Los Angeles, $10,000 from Shanska USA Building, Inc., $10,000 from Kitchell Corporation in Phoenix, Ariz., $5,000 from AEDIS Architecture and Planning, $5,000 from Bunton, Clifford and Associates, $5,000 from Bill Gould Design, $3,000 from Alfa Tech and $2,500 from Carducci and Associates, Inc. Those in the education world also shelled out some cash. Ca ada College Interim President Tom Mohr donated $1,000. Mohr was previously the district's superintendent. Superintendent Sam Johnson and Burlingame High School Principal Matt Biggar each donated $100.

The donations listed above are from all of the companies that will benefit from the bond. USB handles the district’s investments, Shanska is the bond consultant, Kitchell is the contstruction company… and the list goes on. If the bond passes, these companies get FAT!
