Pet Parade a Delight – in the Daily Journal (also includes great photo of Hilary and Finley)

More than 450 people and pets participated in the third annual Burlingame Pet Parade on Broadway Saturday morning. The free event was organized in part by the Broadway Merchants Association to foster community spirit and allow proud pet owners to strut their stuff. A miniature horse, dozens of dogs, a cadre of cats and even a goldfish, bird and snake or two dressed in unique costumes such as bees, pirates, fairies, cowboys, leather bikers and a magician. The parade was led by Niko, the Burlingame Police Department K-9, who as grand marshal, marched with Officer Steve Vega.

Winners were:

Grand Prize: The Begovich family of Hillsborough for their Hawaii Five-O? entry featuring brothers Joseph, 9, Daniel, 7, and Neal, 5, and family dog Carley all dressed Hawaiian style. Best dressed pet: Rocky, a German shepherd owned by Rosemary Militti of San Mateo, dressed as a biker. Best group: The Holland family of Burlingame and their to pugs Smeagle and Billy, dressed as pirates. Most interesting pet: A 3-foot-tall miniature horse named Hollywood owned by Debi Denardi of Colma. Best dressed pet/owner combo: Cowgirls Sheila Druskin and her 3-month-old daughter Sophie of Burlingame with Bailey the dog. Most original float or wagon? Katie Adams, Stacie Arbues and Rachel Bisaillon, all 10, of Burlingame, with their dogs Morgen the magician? and Rosie the rabbit.?
