In today's Daily News Election 2005 section the article on Dan Andersen starts out

Burlingame is on the brink of major development and City Council candidate Dan Andersen seeks to ride the growth wave preemptively.

This appears to be the "New Dan" endorsed and funded by the Peninsula Coalition which is funded by PG&E and major developers. The "Old Dan" fought a teen center in Washington Park, the hospital rebuild, Safeway, and the PG&E transmission line on Trousdale Ave. Which "Dan" do Dan's supporters believe they would be voting for on Tuesday? How can they be sure?

Here is the saddest part of the New Dan story. Now he is in bed with Lembi. During the whole campaign the only thing Lembi had to talk about is downtown parking–I built the library garage, blah, blah. But New Dan is quoted in the article today saying “the city is sitting on more parking spaces than there are buildings” and we need to do mixed use with minimal parking.

Their ideas are 180 opposed to each other but they are in bed because they need to be. That how you know you can’t trust New Dan.

I’m still questioning the premise of Andersen’s statement before I start questioning his motives. Who says we are on the brink? Just because there are some new area plans in place doesn’t automatically mean lots of new investment. What is the commercial vacancy rate now in San Mateo County?

The word on the street is Dan was out last night doubling and tripling up on his established sign spots. I drove up Hillside today and sure enough he had 3 signs on the same spot that has had 1 sign for weeks. D-E-S-P-A-R-A-T-I-O-N.

Is that Desperate Dan sitting in the camera seat tonight in city hall…of course it is.
