Dedicated to Empowering and Informing the Burlingame Community

Friday's Chamber of Commerce shindig featured San Francisco comedian Will Durst doing a half hour of standup comedy. Apparently his take on Burlingame was something to the effect of "Burlingame has 'quaint' down cold. It's so quaint that if Norman Rockwell came here, he would lose his lunch." Even given the overly colorful image, it's nice to see that Will "gets it". I wonder how many of the dignitaries present "got it"?????

Wasn’t it supposed to be a love fest for Fuchs?

Jim, I’m tempted to respond by saying “Who?”, but as I understand it Mr. Fuchs used part of his time to recall some nice thoughts about Gloria Barton. So in the spirit of forgiving and then forgetting, Mr. Fuchs was briefly honored at the event as well for his retirement. Gloria’s legacy will not be forgotten. She was a pistol and had a very clear vision for the future of B’game which she wasn’t afraid to tell anyone about.

Thats what I loved about Gloria. She had this gravelley voice and would always speak bluntly and straight from her heart. I did not know her when she was a “politician” but imagine she skewed everything you ever believed about politicians!
