There is an article in the Daily Journal about the Caltrain negotiations:

(1) They will install 25-cents-an-hour parking meters in 16 spaces on West Lane
(2) Harvey will lease parking lots on East Lane for three years
(3) Harvey would lease a lot on West Lane from the City for three years
(4) South Lane will be closed to cars

And very interestingly: "The city plan also postpones building a $950,000 plaza on the lot near the Burlingame train depot because the city cannot afford it"

Where did that number come from? The plaza could become the jewel plaza of the peninsula with the expertise and creative thinking of some of our local well respected architects.

Maybe one of our more dedicated council members could see if there is any grant funding around for such a project.

We are eagerly waiting for the parking study where we will find out whether people's parking habits have changed and where the parking money will be allocated. Wasn't it going to be approximately $500,000?

Maybe at the budget study session on January 29 at 9:00 in the Lane Room all will be disclosed .

Was there ever an official plan or concept submitted for bid? I am also puzzled about this. As usual, the public is in the dark.

Please see article in San Mateo Times for reaction to the Caltrain’s “deal”.

Maybe the solution should be that Harvey’s parking spaces are metered too or does his rent fairly cover that?

Maybe Tuesday’s council meeting will clariify the disparity. Or does it come down to $1 million contribution to the City coffers vs. small independent businesses? Surely not!

Yes it did. And it was even worse – the historians on our council deemed that because our town was built on Charles Howard and Auto Row, those small business are really uninvited guests on an historical part of auto row. It seems our council does not need their dogs groomed or their cakes baked at some of these independent businesses.

I am sorry to say this, but more dumb … words coming from the podium.
