Dedicated to Empowering and Informing the Burlingame Community

There is a new Indian Bistro just opened called Roti next to Coconut Bay.

The food is amazing, the clientele great (nice to see you Angela!) and the ambience relaxing and friendly. Roti is an Indian bread and delicious!

Address: 209 Park Road
Take out: Yes
Extra Good news: They serve food up to 10:00 pm
website: www.rotibistro.com

It seems a long time ago since there was an Indian restaurant in the Startbucks building and it is great to welcome a new Indian restaurant back in town.

There have been many restaurants that have failed in this location so we wish them luck!

So get on your bikes and check it out!

We are thrilled that an Indian Resturant has come to Burlingame. The food and service was very good. We will go there again.
It is fun visiting local spots on the chance of meeting friends and neighbors.

The food was great! There is plenty to choose from for the vegie to carnivor. I recommend it to anyone from a beginner to the advanced connoiseur – ENJOY!

I haven’t tried Roti yet, but I did try Sweet India on Peninsula across from the Shell station last night and it was good. Open til 10:30 PM and free delivery too. I’ll be taking advantage of both of those services.

Sweet India is my all time favorite Indian restaurant, but we try to shop in Burlingame, as much as possible.

Wow, I’ll have to try Sweet India, also. They must be good if they’ve managed to survive in such a weird spot for so long. What would you two recommend to try at Sweet India??

We dined here on a Wednesday evening in October and found this place to be really nice. The chef, as it turns out, was hired away from San Francisco’s (and the Bay Area’s) top Zagat Guide-rated Indian restaurant.
There was a fellow playing Indian music until about 9:30. Very charming.
The menu is varied and very nicely priced. My guest and I ordered a variety of dishes…a bread basket was exceptional. Vegetable fritters are a delight and nicely spicy.
We had a seafood and two lamb dishes, each distinctive and excellent. The owner stopped by our table and saw it covered with different plates. “Now THIS is what Roti is all about: a FEAST!” We were warmly treated, by the way.
The wine list, sad to say, is poor. But corkage (the cost of them serving you a bottle you’ve brought) is a very modest $7.
This could be a major treasure for Burlingame, especially if the foodies from around the Bay Area beat a path here knowing where their favorite Indian chef is now practicing his kitchen artistry.

We made our first foray to Roti tonight and were pleased with the food and the company at other tables. It appeared to be “locals night” which one can’t always say about the Avenue.
I loved the Mixed Seafood Biryani ($14) and the Palak Paneer (spinach, $7) was excellent as well. Even my 13 year old liked it, especially the Roti Calamari ($6).
I will defer to Gerald on the wine list as he is the master. Perhaps a few suggestions of what has paired well with Indian food would be of assistance to the owner, who is a wine buff as well. Being a Zin fanatic, but not in the mood for one tonight, we went with a lighter white that was fine.
Quite a good addition to the Burlingame scene especially given the ache left by Yanni’s departure one street over.

Wow, this is another new gem. We haven’t had such great indian food, since the Tandoori Oven closed in San Francisco decades ago. Great Biryani dishes, wonderful bread, Chai tea, etc., I cannot wait to go back. We wish them much success.

With the landlord they have at that location, they will need all the luck that they can get.

Don’t tell me that is a karp property……

Hope not, that is the kiss of death to any business.

Could that be the reason why none of the businesses at that location have ever survived?

Went recently. Food is excellent one of the best we have been to in the Peninsula.
Agree with comments on the service. It is excellent, very friendly. Just a slight issue trying get some to bring our check.

One minor deficiency. The serving dishes and plates were cold. So when ordering an number of dishes to share expect your food to go cold very quickly.

We’ve been four times already; every meal has been a pleasure. I also noticed that it is truly child-friendly. It is run by a family and they can appreciate all the issues that come up in restaurants. Both my children love the food. There is something for everyone. A great addition to our town!

The food was great but the service gets a huge thumbs down. If you ask me, the in-experienced, poorly managed staff call for a limp experience. I wouldn’t be surprised if you see a new restaurant in the same location within a few months.

Too bad, I hope your experience was just an off night. Out of curiousity, was the top floor open when you dined? Maybe they get stretched too thin when the upstairs is also full.
