Dedicated to Empowering and Informing the Burlingame Community

With the gubernatorial election into its final day its interesting to note the familiar stages it has gone through and the parallels to Burlingame elections past & present. First there was the dismissing of the challengers as not serious, then there was the digging up of all things from the past, the 'outrage' at negative campaigning, then the whisper campaign and finally the last minute revelations made by 'concerned citizens'.

For those of us who remember the last council election here in Burlingame we are sure to recognize the pattern. No doubt we'll see the same this year. Who will be the 'author' of the last minute volleys this time? And when? And where? The 'oh-so' Independent?

Like the returning swallows at Capistrano we can set our clocks by the arrival of the 'informative' letters to the editor!

I bet we will see them the week beginning October 27. Time to make an impression. No time to respond! Any other bets?

  1. Let’s hope we don’t get the same type of disgusting letter from the same two “gentlemen” who published a few days before the last election. The candidate couldn’t respond to the errors because of the “perfect” timing. Perhaps if these “gentlemen” are going to do a repeat performance they could have the deceny to time it so the candidates can correct the errors. Shame on them if this happens again … and maybe it will backfire again!

  2. Well the two “gentlemen” have started early. Shame on them. People of a certain age should show more dignity and integrity. Boys, don’t be so silly – just get over it and, as seasoned politicians, talk about the important issues. Thank you.
