Yesterdays Burlingame Daily News reported that candidate Terry Nagel had awoken to find her own campaign sign had disappeared from her front lawn and had been replaced by a Mary Janney sign. Janney & Coffey's professional campaign manager & consultant Ed McGovern was quoted as saying that Nagel's team had made this all up. "I think they're dishonest about it," McGovern said.

I cannot think anyone would believe that Terry Nagel is so so so desperate that she would steal her own yard sign. Come on, political consultant, you ain't being paid enough if that's all you can come up with. Such desperation!

Rosalie has kicked the Janney/Coffey campaign in the proverbial shins but now the "duo" should act like grownups. If anyone believes the spin that Rosalie made her decision soley on the Bayfront issue, they should get more involved in watching the machinations of the City Council.

Ironically it is the two people who have integrity that are the ones being criticised. Very interesting. As I said before, someone must be desperate.

  1. To me, the most disturbing part of this newspaper article was the following:

“Asked if McGovern was speaking for the campaign or expressing his own views, Janney declined comment.”

There are certain things that one just should not decline comment on. This strikes me as one of them. It’s a yes or no question. I hope and expect that Mary Janney will clarify this in the near future. The residents of Burlingame are watching.

  2. I know how this sign business happened.

The stars and planets were in a configuration known as the M&M lineage whereby Mars and the Moon were such that SPACE ALIENS were able to sneak past all the HOMELAND SECURITY George W. has in place, not to mention the Burlingame Police.
Actually, the police we know were having cinnamon doughnuts down by the Burlingame Avenue train station at that hour (precisely 3:42 in the morning, we understand)…we don’t know about Homeland Security or Big Brother, for that matter.
It seems a giant space ship shaped like a particular kind of French bread (known as a “Batard” -translates to ‘bastard’, ironically) was able to hover in the vicinity of Poppy Drive and by means of technology not known on this particular planet was able to actually reconfigure the ink on the NAGEL sign and convert it to a copy of one of those JANNEY placards.
The intergalactic space craft, under the helmsmanship of one “F. SCOTTY FITZGERALD” (also known by the phrases “Beam me up Scotty” and “Jim Beam Me Up, Scotty”) is said to be responsible for this political dirty trick.

Lucky for Terry Nagel these same pranksters didn’t turn the beverages at her campaign kick-off into prune juice or the chocolate chip cookies to liverwurst!

  3. Thank you – Gerald – that brightened up my day. I hadn’t been able to figure out how the inks on the signs changed!

  4. Last night the Cohen & Nagel signs were removed from the front of our daughters Laguna Avenue home.

  5. Speaking of signs. Seems all candidates have been made aware that placing campaign signs in the median strips etween the sidewalk and the street is illegal. As far as I can tell, all of the challengers in the race are abiding by the law of th land. The incumbents on the other hand have blatantly disregarded the law. The following list is just some of the places where Coffey and Janney signs appear to be have been placed illegally. Of special note. Two of the below listed sgns are in front of former city council members homes. And in one case, a current city councilman was spotted placing the signs illegally. The list of violations:
    1.) Riviera and Skyline
    2.) 324 Dwight
    3.) 100 block, Burlingame Ave.
    4.) 376 Lexington Way
    5.) 1400 Palm
    6.) 846 Paloma
    7.) 1300 Block, Mills Ave.
    8.) 1122 Cambridge
    9.) Balboa and Hillside
    10.) 1440 Vancouver
    11.)2327 Hale
    12.)Alvarado and Hillside( city property)
    13.) 1253 Drake
    14.) 1400 block, Columbus

  6. The reason for the missing signs is obvious: People are so eager for them, they can’t wait to have them delivered!
