   It looks like the Millbrae Planning Commission just woke up from a long slumber!!
   he potential to overwhelm local schools with students living in massive mixed-use developments proposed to be built near the Millbrae train station prompted officials to slow the approval process which will regulate future building in the area.
   The Millbrae Planning Commission voted 4-1, with Commissioner John Walker dissenting, to delay making a recommendation to the City Council regarding the Millbrae Station Area Specific Plan, which will lay the policy guidelines for development near the city’s Caltrain and Bay Area Rapid Transit, or BART station, during a meeting Monday, Nov. 2.
   Ultimately, the commission decided members need more time to mull the hours of public feedback they received on the policy which will shape the proposals to construct roughly 400,000 square feet of office space, about 79,000 square feet of retail space and more than 800 residential units, as well as a hotel, near the intersection of Millbrae Avenue and El Camino Real.
   Commission Chair Catherine Quigg suggested the specific plan needed to be amended to accommodate the needs of the local school systems, especially in regards to student enrollment growth that could be generated by the large developments.
   “How are we going to take care of the schools? It wasn’t addressed that closely,” she said.
