Avenew Signage: Half way there

There is still a split opinion on the B'game Ave streetscape and there is definitely a split opinion on doing the side streets in a similar fashion. $25 mil seems like a lot of money we don't have. I do like the old-style street signs that have appeared.

But I am still waiting for the new, upgraded sign posts to be installed in place of the usual perforated steel ones like the one shown here. I hear they are coming–they match the one above (but smaller obviously).

The recent rain did wonders for the sidewalk appearance as well.

The ‘old-style’ street signs are actually 40 years old– they are original 1970s (zinc/aluminum) signs with raised lettering that have been refurbished.

I would like to see the temporary banner taken down from in front of our beautiful train station. So much work done on our beautiful streetscape – and then we end up with a Countyfair vibe at our most important architectural focal point.

I agree completely with that comment Mr. Garrison.
I like the “Country Fair” vibe.
That Banner, as well as any Banners on Broadway or Burlingame Ave should be stopped.
Any Banner, automatically creates the image and belief that The City of Burlingame Inc. endorses whatever is presented.
Regardless of any “City of Burlingame Community Event.”
Please look up Community, all.
If there is a cost, or not, having the City of Burlingame Public Works Dept install and remove any/all Banners installed on Broadway and Burlingame Ave is just “Another Dirty Secret.”
If those people pay a fee for the service, why not Oracle, StarBuck, etc.?
One easy and simple “law suit” regarding the endorsement of ANYTHING other than City of Burlingame is prejudice.

There must have been a sale of No U-turn signs on Amazon. There are no less than 7 No U-turn signs at El Camino Real and Burlingame, setting a new world record for gratuitous traffic sign clutter at an intersection. Do we really need 2-3 signs per direction? I’ve never ever, ever seen someone pull a U there. It’s physically impossible. I guess if it were even remotely possible there would be 10 signs. Seriously though, we should cut down on the clutter. It’s needless visual pollution, and detracts from the streetscape improvements.
