There is a piece in today's Wall Street Journal Bay Area section that note:

In a sign of how the Bay Area's economic recovery has been stronger than in some other parts of California, hotel rates are rising in San Francisco while they stagnate in the Central Valley and Sacramento, according to PKF Consulting.  San Francisco's average room rate in February was $176 a night, up 20% from the previous year.

That's encouraging news for B'game since our hotel rates track somewhat with SF's and because the 12% TOT rises with room rates (as long as they don't surpress overall demand).  Local room rates still haven't recovered to what they were pre-9/11 but they are trending up.

Great way to think of your readership. Why even write posts if you don’t care what the people reading them think?

Mr. $, Voice readership is doing very well, surprisingly well month over month in fact, and that may be attributed to the points of view and the local focus–not the typing. AOL may yet come calling!
    Thanks for your concern, though.
