Street Trees The Burlingame Beautification Commission and City Council have adopted a new program to add trees to those streets that have few or no trees and have identified locations where over 100 trees can be planted. Donations for materials can be made for any number of trees, with the Parks & Recreation Department providing the planting and administrative costs. Estimated cost: $35 per tree.

    If anyone is interseted in what a $35.00 tree looks like go to Washington Park.
    See the “Burlingame Reforestation” of Washington Park.
    Tiny twigs, repacling huge Heritage Trees.
    The Park Dept is replacing the loss of these old trees. It will take 20 years to call them small.
    This should be a wake up call to the people who care about Easton. The reforestaion plan should have happened a long time ago. There is more than enough room to start new trees NOW!

    I’d say, let’s offer an upgrade to $50 or $60. it saves several years of growing time. Any bigger than that (I think) requires a fork-lift to put in. I agree that the smaller trees, particularly in the shade of the larger ones, do take forever to get going.

    For those generous donors who want a bigger tree, just ask … I am sure that it is possible.

    Most of us won’t enjoy the grandeur of our future Heritage trees but our grandchildren will – we have to start somewhere!

    The point I am making is that with the imminente removal of trees on Easton,the reforestation is paramount!
