RADIO WAVES CAN BE HEARD AGAIN IN BURLINGAME AT IL PICCOLO COFFEEHOUSE.
Il Piccolo Coffeehouse in Burlingame on Broadway Avenue will once again be hosting old fashioned radio dramas in March and April. The same group that entertained in December with The Christmas Carol and The Plot to Overthrow Christmas is sponsoring a "Family Night" on March 23, 2006 at 6:30-7:30. 10 students from Roosevelt, Washington and Lincoln Elementary schools will be performing their radio rendition of Cinderella, complete with all the old methods of making sound effects.
As an extra bonus, the last half of the evening will be filled with poetry delivered by Lincoln elementary students. Both the radio drama and poetry are part of the after-school programs for K-5 by Burlingame Parks & Recreation.
And you won't want to miss the Il Piccolo Players on April 6, 2006, 7:00 PM when they present episodes of those old classics The Whistler and The Shadow. More than 20 adults, comprised of the "shakers and the movers" of Burlingame and other energetic thespians have formed the radio/drama troupe that evolved out of the December performance. Charles Voltz is "The Whistler", Stephen Hamilton is "The Shadow" and realtors Ross Bruce, Mary L. Hunt and Rosalie McCloud are all playing many interesting mystery characters. Even Bobbi Benson has dropped her gardening tools to re-create some memorable moments in radio history. For more information, please contact Cathy Foxhoven at 650-697-6936 or iambasque@gmail.com.
