Allow me to draw your attention to the SM County Times article on Page 9 of today's edition titled "Police Want Man for Questioning". A nine year old girl was fending off a man who was apparently trying to lure her into his car near Parkside Elementary Tuesday after school. The girl's action caught "the attention of of Parkside School crossing guard James Cavazos, who started questioning the man before the man drove off". The article includes a police sketch of the man they are looking for, no doubt a more accurate sketch due to Mr. Cavazos description than the nine year old's description.

I think that Mr. Cavazos has earned his salary for the entire year on the 2nd or 3rd day of school in San Mateo. I hope City Councils up and down the Peninsula are paying attention.

  1. I spoke with a local resident this morning who nearly got whacked by a motorist while she was crossing Chapin Ave (southbound) on the east side of El Camino by B of A. She told me she had spoken with the crossing guard at El Camino and Oak Grove, by McKinley School…the crossing guard told her he had actually been hit by a car while he was helping some people across El Camino!
It’s a shame the City can’t see its way clear to pony up the small bit of funding for this valuable service.

  2. Won’t it be interesting if our City somehow ponies up the money to buy the train track strip between Burlingame Avenue and Broadway? Of course then they would have to pony up the money to clear the land for those cash-cow cars. Maybe pony up the money to chop a few trees down.

The picture is skewed and it seems to need straightening!
